When our daughter Ilana was two, my wife and I decided as an experiment to teach her to read. She did very well, and the experiment continued with her two brothers, Oren and Allon. It gradually developed a coherent method, a bag of tricks which other parents may find useful. Here (35+ years later) is a detailed account of what we did.
